Serving the Uptown Cincinnati community, the METRO Uptown Transit District sought to create an iconic and effective public transportation system. Using design brand elements each transit hub features a landmark that enhances the neighborhood and brand recognition. KLH Engineers provided engineering and design services for the architecture of the hubs and kiosks. Each transit location was fitted with new streetscape lighting and lighting within the station. A few of them required power for ticketing machines and real time signage. The power distribution was creatively designed to be installed in a traffic enclosure to discretely hide the electrical infrastructure of reach station. Light columns define plazas and zones while hub illumination provides visibility for pedestrian and vehicular traffic. Twelve new transit hubs were located throughout five Uptown districts.
