Ryan Dobbins and Patrick Eldridge to Discuss AI-Powered Workflows at 2025 AIA Kentucky | AIA Indiana Convention

Ryan Dobbins, DBIA, vice president of strategic growth, and Patrick Eldridge, AI architect and lead mechanical engineering associate at Kohrs Lonnemann Heil Engineers, Inc. (KLH Engineers), will present “Beyond the Basics: How AI Transforms Workflows to Focus on Design Impact” at the 2025 American Institute of Architects (AIA) Kentucky | AIA Indiana Convention. Their session is scheduled for Wednesday, September 18 at 2:30 p.m. EST at the Pam Miller Downtown Arts Center, located at 141 E. Main Street in Lexington, KY.

Dobbins and Eldridge’s presentation will examine how AI technologies are reshaping the AEC industry by automating routine tasks, accelerating iteration, and enabling teams to focus on higher-value work. They will break down key subsets of AI, such as machine learning, generative design and large language models (LLMs) and demonstrate their practical applications, from AutoCAD-to-Revit conversions to how engaging with AI drives innovation goals. The session will also emphasize the critical role of well-structured data in leveraging AI and offer insights into preparing organizations for AI integration, shifting focus from process management to delivering design impact.

Learning objectives include:

• Understanding why AI is poised to be a positive disruption to the AEC industry.
• Identifying key subsets of AI applications relevant to the AEC industry and what’s on the horizon.
• Recognizing the importance of organizational data and how to structure it effectively to leverage AI.
• Learning how to begin developing and implementing AI strategies within your own organization.

The convention is scheduled for September 18–19, 2025, and is expected to welcome over 300 architects from Kentucky and Indiana. Centered on the theme “MOMENTUM: Driving Innovation and Excellence in Architectural Practice,” attendees will experience a mix of educational sessions, networking opportunities and visionary discussions designed to inspire and elevate architectural practice.
