John Glenn International Airport Consolidated Rental Car Center
Developed as the first phase of John Glenn International Airport’s long-range master plan, the Consolidated Rental Car Center (ConRAC) Facility modernizes rental operations, enhances the customer experience and supports future terminal expansion. By consolidating multiple off-site rental car functions into a single centralized facility, the project reduces shuttle traffic, streamlines circulation and improves operational efficiency across the airport campus.
The 1.2-million-square-foot, multi-level facility accommodates approximately 2,600 vehicles and includes a ready/return garage, quick turnaround area, idle storage and integrated customer service functions. Designed for high-volume, 24/7 operations, the facility incorporates durable systems, helical ramps and secure operational zones to meet the demands of an active airport environment. This project also included electric bus charging and bus washing facilities to support passenger bus operation until the new terminal was constructed.
KLH Engineers served as Engineer of Record for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and technology systems. The team provided full MEP design, including underground electrical utility relocations, and delivered coordinated solutions that support vehicle operations, life safety and long-term performance within a complex, active airport setting.
