KLH Engineers (KLH), M+A Architects and Jezerniac Geers & Associates teamed up on a pro bono project to renovate a 16,000-square-foot Graeter’s Ice Cream building into a new Habitat for Humanity MidOhio ReStore. The future flagship store is located at 2555 Bethel Road in Columbus, Ohio, and is expected to open in mid- to late-November.

Each firm donated its services in-kind. KLH provided the mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering services through its Keep Lending a Hand Community Fund, which is dedicated to supporting charitable organizations.

“KLH’s Columbus office is committed to giving back to the community. We are proud to partner with Habitat for Humanity along with M+A and Jezerniac Geers on a project that will help provide housing for families in need in Central Ohio,” says Adam Pulskamp, Columbus Regional Director.

To celebrate the new MidOhio ReStore, KLH, M+A and Jezerniac Geers created a “Welcome Home” candle with a signature scent at Candle Lab. The debut of the candle will take place at Habitat for Humanity’s Signature Scent Launch event on Monday, Nov. 11, 2019, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Candle Lab in Grandview.

Habitat for Humanity MidOhio will receive 100 percent of the proceeds from sales of the “Welcome Home” candle during the event. In addition, 20 percent of proceeds from all other purchases, including from the bar, on that day from 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. will benefit the nonprofit.

ReStores are independently owned reuse stores operated by local Habitat for Humanity organizations that accept donations and sell home improvement items to the public at a fraction of the retail price. Revenue from the MidOhio ReStores offsets administrative costs and assists in both eliminating substandard housing and creating homeownership opportunities in Central Ohio.
