Dani’s Place

Dani’s Place was developed to address a critical gap in Northwest Ohio’s behavioral health needs. Adults transitioning from inpatient psychiatric hospitalization often require additional structure and support before returning to independent living, yet the region lacked a dedicated residential “step‑down” facility to provide that level of care. The Mental Health & Recovery Services Board of Lucas County identified the need for a purpose‑built environment that could support recovery while providing a safe, stable, home‑like setting.

The 25,000‑square‑foot, 16‑bed facility includes private resident rooms, therapeutic spaces, administrative offices, and shared amenities such as a teaching kitchen, dining and recreation areas, laundry facilities, and an outdoor courtyard designed to support supervised living and life‑skills development.

KLH Engineers provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and technology engineering design and construction administration services. Through close coordination with the design team and the use of BIM modeling and clash detection, KLH helped deliver integrated building systems that support the safety, operational needs, and therapeutic mission of this specialized behavioral health facility.
