Alex Jonovski Selected to BD+C 40 Under 40 Class of 2021

12.22.21

Alex Jonovski, PE, principal, vice president of strategic growth at Kohrs Lonnemann Heil Engineers Inc. (KLH Engineers), was selected to the Building Design + Construction (BD+C) 40 Under 40 Class of 2021. Each year, BD+C honors 40 individuals in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry as the next generation of rising stars. Entries are judged on several key factors: career development, education attainment, service to professional associations and community service.

At 33 years old, Jonovski has risen through the ranks of KLH Engineers, a national mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) engineering firm, from a co-op student in 2008 to principal and vice president of strategic growth in 2021. He has been a key figure in the development of a consortium of firms in the AEC industry; the launch of a new company that focuses on data integration within building design and construction workflows; and a new software application. As an industry thought leader, Jonovski has presented at several national conferences and webinars, as well as local professional organizations across the country.

Jonovski, a University of Cincinnati graduate, began his career at KLH Engineers in 2012 designing mechanical engineering systems for commercial and retail projects of all sizes and scope. Eventually, he became a project manager, which exposed him to projects from additional markets such as civic and healthcare.

With his engineering background and entrepreneurial spirit, in 2018 he became a founding member of Demain, LLC, a consortium of AEC firms that collectively leverages their innovations in design, manufacturing and installation of MEP systems. Shortly after, Jonovski was named a principal of the KLH Engineers in 2019 and appointed vice president of strategic growth in 2021. His current primary focus is the exploration of how data can bridge gaps within building design and construction.

With the launch of Levcon Analytics, LLC, in 2021, Jonovski was named managing principal and worked with owners to translate project requirements into BIM data for better outcomes. Under the core belief of Data as a Discipline™, Jonovski is educating the industry on the transformational role of design and construction data through webinars and thought leadership pieces.

Despite his heavy workload, Jonovski serves on the Mt. Lookout Community Council board and volunteers with organizations such as Paint the Town and Freestore Foodbank through KLH’s community service program, Keep Lending a Hand. He also serves as a coach in KLH’s catalytic coaching program and helps employees develop a plan to achieve their personal and career goals.

“Alex possesses the rare qualities of being a visionary with strong execution skills. His leadership has helped shape the company KLH is today. In addition to leading a high performing professional life, he leads a high performing personal life. Alex characterizes the standard of excellence this honor represents and I’m confident he will carry the distinction with pride and enthusiasm. Congratulations, Alex!” says Jim Tavernelli, president of KLH Engineers.
