The Deacon

The Deacon, an off-campus housing development, provides a high quality of life for students attending the University of Cincinnati. The 451,800 square-foot project is the first phase of a multi-housing development at the former Deaconess Hospital site. Comprising 357 units, the 11-story high rise includes fully furnished studios and one- to four-bedroom apartments. The developer sought to provide the highest level of onsite amenities—totaling 17,500 square feet—for students, including a golf simulator, arcade, theater room, 24/7 fitness center, spin room, pool table, dog spa, music rooms, 18 private study lounges and a computer cafe. The outdoor gathering space includes a pool, grill and bar area, putting green, fire pits and bike racks. An onsite six-story covered garage also provides ample parking. KLH worked with design-build partners to address mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems for the apartments and garage, as well as radon design services.
